Versa-Style Street Dance Company (VSDC) is a Street Dance Performing Arts organization serving the Street Dance community in Los Angeles and beyond. VSDC elevates, preserves and evolves Hip Hop and Street Dance culture through high quality technical training for aspiring artists. Versa-Style was founded in 2005 when two lifelong LAC residents established a dance company that celebrated the roots and origins of Hip Hop and Street Dance culture. We create highly energetic work that fuses Street Dances that are culturally significant to our communities, including Street Dance forms such as Hip Hop, house, breaking, popping, locking, whacking and krump, as well as Afro-Latin styles such as salsa, merengue, cumbia and Afro-Cuban. As a reaction to the widespread media misrepresentation of these dance forms, VSDC performs to instill the roots, history, and social and political issues surrounding the culture of Hip Hop and Street Dance. We are dedicated to the global Hip Hop and Street Dance community by creating and touring full-length dance theater works for notable concert stages such as The Ford (Los Angeles), Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center (Long Beach), Jacob’s Pillow (Massachusetts), the Joyce Theater (New York) and more.
